EPISODE #1: Parenting Through the Holidays, focuses on the many opportunities available during this time of year to discuss the risks of underage drinking and other drug use with kids. You’ll hear directly from three moms with children of various ages providing their unique experiences and how they handle these situations.
SAMHSA’s new “Talk. They Hear You.” campaign “What Parents Are Saying” educational sessions aim to inform parents and caregivers about the realities of underage drinking and other drug use, prepare them to talk with their kids about these issues, and motivate them to start these important conversations.
NKISP will collaborate with many community partners to provide an annual regional youth mental health and prevention summit. The goal of the NKY Youth Summit is to provide 200 NKY middle and high school students from 20 different schools with education about suicide prevention, tools to address their own mental health, and guidance on ongoing advocacy projects to share with their school communities. Our annual summit will feature Keynote Speaker Brandon Saho, who will share his personal journey and struggles with mental health challenges. Applications for our NKY Regional Youth Advisory Board will be available, as we aim to increase student voice in prevention and mental health initiatives.
